In Copenhagen, a private sleep clinic is conducting a medical study on a new type of sleep medication, The human test subjects did not know, that they would receive payment before they were selected. They were driven to participate out of desperation, being unable to find a cure for their insomnia. By lending their bodies to science, to a study testing medicine, that has not yet been officially approved, the clinic offers them a sleep analysis, and cognitive behavioral counseling, to treat their insomnia.


Insomnia is a sleep disorder also known as sleeplessness. Studies have shown, that insomnia is closely linked to mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and stress, as well as researchers have found underlying associations of insomnia with cardiovascular diseases such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, and stroke.

Despite of this, it is difficult to receive treatment for insomnia through the public Danish health insurance.
